Prayer
Prayer is a personal conversation between us and God through which we give thanks for blessings we have received and ask for blessings we need. Prayer is one of the cornerstones of our relationship with God. Through prayer we can develop a deep personal relationship with God.
In the Book of Mormon Jesus tells us this “therefore ye must always pray unto the Father in my name; and whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you.” (3 Nephi 18:19-20) That is why we pray in the name of Jesus Christ when we pray to God. We also pray using our own words when we pray. We start our prayer by addressing God the Father, we can say things like "Dear heavenly Father" or "O God". After that we share the feelings of our hearts by giving thanks, asking for blessings, and having an authentic conversation with God. We end every prayer in the name of Jesus Christ followed by amen.
Prayer is a powerful connection between you and your heavenly father. Prayer is a blessing that God has given to all of his children so they can build relationships with him.
“And my soul hungered; and I kneeled down before my Maker, and I cried unto him in mighty prayer and supplication for mine own soul; and all the day long did I cry unto him; yea, and when the night came I did still raise my voice high that it reached the heavens. And there came a voice unto me, saying: Enos, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou shalt be blessed”(Enos 1:4-5). You will experience a personal connection with God when you pray with your whole heart.
